Where can you find us?
The Schooner Surprise and the Sloop Anjacaa are both located at the Public Landing in Camden. If you are coming the south on Route 1, you will come into the center of town and see Camden National Back on your right hand side and after the Sea Dog Brewer, between the two is a small steep hill that goes down to the Public Landing. Our ticket booth is located at the far side of the parking lot at the Public Landing on the pier by the water. We have a green umbrella at our ticket booth that says Schooner Surprise. If coming from the north on Route 1 Sea Dog and Camden National Bank will be on your left hand side. Also, by asking anyone in town they are always happy to send you in the direction!
Where do we go on the sail?
Depending on the wind we may head towards Islesboro Island or down the coast to Rockland. We may cruise along the coast of Camden and Rockport checking out the summer estates along the water. We may see seals basking in the sun, bald eagles, or if we are lucky a whale or porpoise. The perspective you get from Schooner Surprise is unparalleled. A depth of natural beauty from the sea to the mountains, islands and harbors, it is all quite stunning.
Where to park?
There is two hour parking at the harbor parking lot and pretty much everywhere in town, which is enforced. Otherwise there are two all day parking lots in town which are free. One is located behind the fire department on Washington Street and the other is past the Library on Atlantic. Avenue.
What to wear?
The temperature on the water is always a bit cooler then on land, so we recommend a sweater or a light jacket. If you have white soled or non-marking shoes that would be best but not necessary. You may also want a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen. We provide blankets on board.
What to bring?
Feel free to bring a lunch or snack and beverages (including beer and wine).
Cancellation policy
If we cancel the trip for bad weather or unsafe conditions you will have a full refund on your credit card. There are no refunds for cancellations received less than one week before date of sail and there are no refunds if you miss your sail. We also will cancel sails if we do not have a limited amount of passengers signed up (4 people).
What happens if it rains?
We will try to get you on another trip but if it doesn’t work for you we will give you a full refund.
What is the check-in time?
Please check in 30 minutes before your trip begins. If you have not checked in 10 minutes before departure we have the right to give your place to someone else.
Is there a bathroom?
Yes there is a marine head (toilet) on board. The public restrooms are also located right near our ticket booth for before or after your trip.
